Interested in being a Foster Home?
It’s a commitment and a joy. It’s hard work, but endlessly rewarding. In many ways, it’s the best volunteer work in Maumee Valley Save-A-Pet. There’s nothing like finding a great home for an animal that entered our program injured, sick or terrified. And those happy endings happen all the time.
To be a foster home, you need to:
- Provide a spare room for the foster animal, at least initially, especially if you have other animals. (You need to isolate any new foster animal until it is tested, vaccinated and thoroughly checked out by one of our participating veterinarians.) A spare bedroom, porch, basement or even garage may serve.
- Arrange and keep track of your foster animal’s health care through one of our participating veterinarians. Maumee Valley Save-A-Pet pays the vet bills.
- Provide love, food, fresh water and litter. Maumee Valley Save-A-Pet picks up the cost of food and litter if necessary.
Foster homes are always desperately needed. Please consider helping. For details, call our Shelter at 419-537-9663 and leave us a message.
